Cell Biology

Our cell biology group is experienced at developing cell assays to assist preclinical drug discovery. Whenever appropriate, we aim to perform assays on human primary cells and are focused at developing disease relevant assays.

We currently provide assays in the fields of:
  • Inflammation
    • Peripheral blood mononuclear cell activation (LPS, TNFα, PHA, antiCD3/CD28 stimulation)
    • Cell subpopulation activation (T cells, monocytes/macrophages, dendritic cells, neutrophils)
    • Whole blood assays
  • Respiratory inflammation (human normal bronchial epithelial cell activation)
  • Gastrointestinal inflammation (human colorectal adenocarcinoma cell line (Caco-2) activation)
  • Fibrosis
    • Fibroblast proliferation
    • Fibroblast to myofibroblast differentiation
    • Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition
  • Arthritis
    • Human fibroblast-like synoviocyte activation
    • Osteoclast differentiation and activation
  • Oncology
    • Cell proliferation assays (2D and 3D) on various cell lines
  • Infection
  • Cell viability assays
    • Cytotoxicity on various cell lines or relevant cell types
    • Cell health (metabolic activity, membrane permeability, apoptosis, cell number/proliferation, mitochondrial membrane potential, phospholipidosis, cell cycle analysis)
  • Tailor-made cell-based assays according to customer’s needs can be developed
  • Readouts: cytokine/chemokine production and surface markers on protein and mRNA level, intracellular localisation, chemotaxis, cell differentiation, etc.
